They call themselves "The Palm Springs Modernists" - three artists who grew up in Palm Springs and know that the modernist environment truly influenced their work and their lives.
Glen Wexler, Terry Masters and Craig Deman are the founding members of the Palm Springs Modernists and will show their work at the second Palm Springs Modernists Art Show at Desertpainter Studio Gallery, during Modernism Week 2017.
"We were soaking in it" says photographer Craig Deman. "Environment is such a huge factor to an artist; we believe you will see it in the work. Glen's photography is world class. He was really soaking in it - his father, of course, was Donald Wexler. Terry’s paintings and my photography were highly influenced not only by the architecture, but also by the mid-century culture of Palm Springs.”
Future exhibitions will seek out artists with the deep Palm Springs roots, whose influences were baked in by the warm desert sun. "Watch this space" adds Masters. "The fine art connection is an exciting aspect. The art and the architecture and artists environmentally impacted by modernism are what Palm Springs Modernists is all about.”
